Exit Strategy

Play through the game.

The importance of exit strategy is
accelerating rapidly in an environment where the half-life of
good ideas is shrinking rapidly.

I want to make this simple and easy
to understand, because it’s so critical to
FLOW, and to the
rising complexity we are facing everywhere.

YOU MUST IMHO, have an exit
strategy for everything.  You must put this exit strategy on
the table with the ideas, the plans, budgets, and everything
else that is required in today’s decision making.

When we look at the difference
between the "S" quadrant and the "B" quadrant, exit strategy
exists on the B side.  Of course I’m speaking about the
CashFlow quadrant popularized by Kiyosaki.  It is certainly a TPOV for

FLOW

An exit strategy means that you
have entered into the

EES
realm where we know when to move on,
get out, stop, or sell, buy, or merge, and there are critical
decision points where those rules apply.

Helpful Hint:
An exit strategy is just that… a
strategic and tactical set of actions that "get you out" of
something, and it’s always best to do this upfront, rather
than waiting until things are going poorly.  If things
begin to downgrade, you’ll lose leverage fast, and the window
of opportunity on scenarios that are sustainable begin to
deteriorate rapidly.

Action Step:
Add an exit strategy discussion to
your next decision-making discussion.  Try it with your
kids, spouse, or at work.  You will see a different quality of
discussion emerge.
