Developmentalist
A developmentalist is someone who is versed in adult developmental models, understands and uses the tools of @F-L-O-W; such as to be able to fashion the assessment of capability along a trajectory of development; most likely inborn into the personal dynamics, which are predisposed to filtering and biasing reality in a way as to promote a lifelong growth; towards inherent happiness and intersubjective success requirements along the path of maturation.
In doing work with the developmentalist tools, which are the personality dynamics in a portfolio:
– how you manage conflict
– your intrinsic motives
– your preferences
– your DiSC traits and Personal Interests
– Your metaprograms
– your strengths
I have found these to be helpful in telling a story about you in self-report as to the different inbornness attributes in these areas, which are often leveraging in knowing and knowable differences about one another in life, work, and relationships.
assessing leadership decision making perspectives
assessing ego complexity
assessing hierarchical task performance
assessing subject/object relations
assessing social perspective
These assessments are done by a scorer and not a program, as in the personality dynamics, where self-report is key, and where in the developmental assessments, they are done, with bias, but by scorers who are familiar with and trained in scoring the development.
As a developmentalist, it is key to begin to understand that each person in development has a unique journey, and while similar in some levels because at one level we are almost all similar and at another level, we are all almost different.
In genetics, we share 99.2% of the same genetic code among 24,000 genes or so.
Yet, this .8% seems to make us night and day in a lot of respects.
I like to look at a staged approach to developmentalism:
-how this emergent personality is maturing through time on a developmental trajectory, and
-what emerges as behavior when the intersubjective nature of cultural scaffolding is present
To be succinct:
maturation
behavior
Some people are interested in understanding and codifying these three leverage points for a variety of reasons which are often important to design in many ways, personal, professional, business, and network resilience as it might unfold or be enhanced.
Helpful Hint: Now, all of this rides on a pretty narrow set of possibilities that developmentalism is even a necessary field of inquiry and experience to be studied and codified and if you were one of those who chalked this up to some BS malarky, I might be hard-pressed to disuade you, but the interest in it by some, is nonetheless important, especially when these people have power over you in various contexts.
Action Step: Imagine that your inborness is motion across a trajectory of maturation that is unique to you and that in order to reach effortless @F-L-O-W, that you can use the information to design in scaffolding that emerges behavior that is successful without thinking. Knowing about a variety of developmental architecture that is present for you to work with can be VERY helpful in designing EES to optimize happiness as it is in @F-L-O-W towards success.
