TPOVs @F-L-O-W
Be, Do, Have, Become,
Contribute
In another TPOV, I discussed
CORPORATE, as well as pointed out there were three other
MetaSystems running that could explain a lot of our
behavior, individually as well as collectively.
Over time, people have asked me to
make those simpler and easier to understand and a few years
ago, I came up with the idea that led to Being, Doing, Having,
and Becoming. They themselves are powerful MetaSystems,
and seemingly within the grasp of most understanding because
people can identify with them.
you the relationships BDHB have with the Gravesian/SDi System,
and the Social Motives of McClelland:
DO – Power – Express Self Calculatedly
HAVE – Achievement – Express Self, Respect Others
BECOME – Avoidance – Sacrifice of Self to Get Later
CONTRIBUTE*
These relationships are critically
interdependent and can explain each other to a large degree,
and remain able to explain nuances that are uniquely
describable by understanding the directional vector, the
density, scaffolding, and culture in which they replicate.
Helpful Hint:
While this is just an introduction
to the ideas behind why we do what we do, I want to suggest
that these systems are inborn in us, in the following ways.
Because of who we are, we inherit
tendencies towards some things and not towards others.
In this way, the things we have a
tendency towards cause us to "select and use" particular ways
more than others. We become more flexible, fluid, and capable
in the use of those tendencies.
The tendencies or preferences
actually create a virtuous cycle of their own.
This is how our strengths become
more, as well as our weaknesses becoming less relevant, unless
we spend a lot of time worrying about our limitations and
trying to upgrade them more than necessary.
Action Step:
Now that you have been introduced
to these ideas, allow them to percolate in your system of
understanding of your own, and other’s behavior.
Can you see the influence of these
systems in your own behavior, or in another’s behavior?
Can you predict, at times, why they
will behave, or how they are behaving? Can you respect and
understand this behavior for what it is?
Want practical info about this entire system, to see it unwound and rewoven
into your own ValuSync™ Map?
*With the publishing of the Book @F-L-O-W, Mike began adding “Contribute” to BDHB, which opens the core motive for the 5th Social Organizing System: Contribution,
as the first system in a new tier of Value DYNAMICS, which is a warm versus cool system with “express self” characteristics.
