Time Scaling

Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimmmmmmmme is on our side...yes it is now...! Or is it?

A refrain from old beatles song (music buffs check me)...that introduces my off-on again 'hard' problem.

As we enter the discussio of FLOW, time is a dimensional element that has not gotten enough airtime in development. I suppose because of the "I want it now" syndrome that BS uses to prod us towards consumptive behavior.

Somehow, all of us think that time is somehow linear, or that all we can think, and it's clear that it's been pointed out that space-time is an element of a far-greater source of meaning.

I'm going to deal with time-scaling because I mentioned it in a previous TPOV and while it is something that perplexes me a lot into tension I like, I have not been able to do much except use my intuition to note what I know exists, but can't prove yet, so I'll remain there for awhile, but tell you what I know, and why time-scaling is critical, it might even be a PRIME, once I figure out what I mean by the use of it in flow.

I have always been good in math, but not because I learned it, it was because of pattern recognition which is my gift emergent as ideation... that I did well, and now I find myself needing math to explain my theories, and don't have the background, unfortunately, maybe I will go back and study it someday, I don't know... But for now, check out this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_scale

Now, back to FLOW and time-scaling.

Thanks to Jaques we have some guidelines on maturation and a time scale can be hypothesized by understanding how to map information complexity onto time as age of the person, in a linear format. We know that people don't grow linearly, that growth, in all directions is relatd to time, but just how time funtions to help us explain the kinds of leaps and bounds requires difference equations, as well as differential equations and even quantum equations.

Since, most of us are not fluent there, then what use is it?

Helpful Hint: The short version is this: as we begin to design and scaffold, what will occur is a time-bounding equation based on resource availability, more than anything else, so as we map out our trajectories of maturation, in order to understand and participate with what has us and others, (I do think this can be larger scope and used in societal mapping, not that anyone is doing that)...we can show how development shrinks and expands in time, curving to make the gravity that holds us into a fishbowl of development, and causes us to literally walk on air at other times... in FLOW.
Action Step: What I'm doing for those that might come behind me to pick up the pieces is trying to outline for you that space-time is a key feature of developmental in all domains, and that in order to plan what is next, literally and figuratively, we have to assume more than the passage of time, as the relationship to time at any one level of capability is a relationship which is not linear, and is key in understanding that while most developmentalists insist on ordinal scales, that time-scaling doesn't allow this in the manner in which most people would like to imagine in most cases.

 Comments:

At this point, I realize that this might not seem relevant to FLOW, but as this cross-paragidm system unfolds into complexity beyond this system, we will use computing to understand how to map developmental sequences from DNA, culture and our hypotheses of maturation. It just needs smart people to code the programming of what I'm trying to explain intuitively at this point. Over time, I will try to add more notes, but I'm not a tenured professor and therefore am occupied abnormally at times with existence...however if anyone would like to endow me, I'll spend most of my time thinking about this stuff<G>>. For now, what you need to take into consideration is that your own development, and that of others we scaffold will not be linear and needs to be time-scaled in order for the shifts in your attention of your own consciousness to be scaffolded.

For those of us that are older, taking apart these legacy systems will require significant time, if we are going to run them on a FLOW system with much value.
