TPOVs @F-L-O-W

Ready, Willing, Able & Fit

In FLOW, there are some key ideas, and many of those have to pass through the filters of Ready, Willing, Able & Fit.

Let me define these, as they may actually qualify as an element or Prime, as I've noted, but for now, a TPOV will be sufficient. I do think these are meta-strategies, but let me let you make that judgment.

Ready:

Are resources available, are the necessary components of scaffolding available, and can we draw from funds, or necessary components with which to make it happen, IF it's ready to happen. Often, we are just not ready. It might not be the right time, place, or even the right reasons might be incomplete missing or just not ready yet. Like fine wine, it needs to be ready, the same as baking bread, until it's ready, it's not bread.

Willing:

Has nothing to do with free will, or self-control, discipline or any other like area. It has to do with motivation. Does the person have standing motivation sufficient to bring into play the need to lean into this process, or project. If they are not in alignment with their own motives, then you might as well, work, or not, until willingness emerges. A lot of the time, pressure and tension will seeminly force a person to be willing, but if there is not a real thread woven through what it is you are involved, or involving them in, you are wasting a lot of time and resources.

Able:

This has to do with the actual abilities required in this process or movement, or design. Can the person bring to bear when required the necessary ability to do what is required in the way it is required, at the level of quality and frequency at which whatever is required to bring about success.

Fit:

Is whatever is happening, the right thing for the person now, near and far, and if it's not, do you know the tradeoffs involved? Fitness has to do with the fitting together, or meshworks involved in making sure you have the best fit possible, the most EES design, in view of the circumstances.

Collaboration depends on Ready, Willing, Able and Fit and what those look like to each of us in a variety of conditions.

Helpful Hint: When you are pushing a string, as in development, maturation or capability, it becomes very important to understand this set of ideas. MOST of us will want to help people and ourselves, but there is a time, place and set of conditions for everything, which is far better matched up by Ready, Willing, Able and Fit, and the lens they bring to help us understand the notions of our lives, work, and relationships.
Action Step: The next time someone reaches out to you for help, pause long enough to test for RWAF. It will be an eye-opening experience for you and then, as most of us go off half-cocked and the others don't ever go off, as they sit in the analysis paralysis process, trying to figure out Ready, Aim and Fire, and it's related advantages and disadvantages. Using RWAF will give you deep insight into the mechanics that make things work, as well as come together.
