You will hear me mention 1-5% in
reference to the number of people who with some significant
probability align with a particular success model.
The reason I adopted this particular "reference point" was to
describe a "probability”. In quantum mechanics, which I
claim to know nothing about, there is an idea that something
can be a wave or a particle and that there is a probability of
it being so.
In my ideas about discussing discrete notions (oxymoron! -->
me)...
I look at how to get the most for the least, because getting
more costs too much. In some cases, precision is needed and
one would need higher probabilities.
For the figurative language I use
to get people to dialogue and inquire about reality,
the probability that 1-5% of the people "probably" describes a
way to look at the differences in people.
The similarities in the ideas that
any given set of success requirements will naturally match
1-5% of those people with the natural happiness profile that
either closely or probably matches.
I think this is important to illustrate the tendency of BS to
say, IF I CAN DO IT, SO CAN YOU.
This is a particularly important axiom for BS, as all of us
want to teach our model of reality to everyone else. In all
likelihood, exemplars of this 1-5% are monetizing this
alignment. Because this alignment is natural in most cases, it
is NOT transferrable to those who are not aligned with this
particular set of requirements.
It's the same issue with change, IMHO.
People want others to change and they show them how they have
done it, and expect others to be able to follow them, or it.

Helpful Hint:
What is key in my experience is to
know yourself well enough to choose a set of success
requirements that is as close to your natural strengths and
happiness profile as possible. This actually requires little
change personally, although we all do, OVERTIME.
Usually this is along a change
trajectory of our own happiness profile, which encapsulates
our strengths profile, because what gets rewarded, gets
grooved, and what wants to get rewarded is wired into our
natural filters.
