"Encore Stage" has been coined by
Marc Freedman who's authored, The Big Shift: Navigating the
New Stage Beyond Midlife. It refers to those of us who are
getting older but are not yet old, comparable I think to what
you're calling the "55 and alive" stage that hasn't yet been

Some of you know, I wrote about this stage as an economical
stage that was missed by Demographers in calculating the
spending habits based on age cohorts. It fits right where the
red box is drawn on this rendition of a Harry Dent Slide, I'm
sure I've violated something, but hopefully won't pick up the
karma, hehe.
[I haven't discovered yet whether good deeds alleviates bad
karma, I guess that was answered by "...man doesn't get to
heaven through good works, eh... I wonder if that applies to
the backdoor, hmmm] Ephesians 2:8-9 it reads “for it is by
grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from
yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one
can boast.”
Ok, here's the rational for 55 and alive...
If we live to be 100 (natural is probably 120 - x, y, and z
lifestyle and epigenetic conditioning)...and we don't have
enough to retire, for various reasons, then we can't any
longer abide by the Dent Effect shown in that chart...
NOW, the question is, what does this cohort look like in terms
of spending, is it going to continue to spend more as would be
expected...and that is most likely the real argument, but
here's my rational for yes--for a time in transition...and
then Seneca's curve depicted around 70, rather than 50,
because as you know, 70 will be the new 50, hehe (using 120 of
course)...we're already at 87-89, and it's climbing as
averages are effected by longevity, and less by epigenesist,
aggravated by SES, IMHO. as the rising tide of technology
lifts all demographic boats...the real kicker is bacteria, are
they going to allow it...hmmm. [Did u see that note that they
found bacteria at the bottom of the Mariana's Trench--now that
is deep! hehe]
I think it's going to be great to watch what happens to us,
and once we realize we won't/can't/shouldn't RETIRE, what will
we do. |
